Joinery? Tell me more

Joinery is the decorative or functional timber detail of your home. Think cupboards, benches, timber doors and windows, custom furniture and everything in between.

Our joinery options are carefully curated to suit your lifestyle, personality, and specific interior design. You can even mix and match your selections to help bring your vision to life.

‘This allows you to recreate interior styles such as Hamptons and Classic, right through to Modern / Contemporary, Industrial and Coastal designs,’ says Boutique Home’s Joinery Designer, Belinda D’Angelo.

‘Along with our showrooms in Docklands and Geelong, our documented plans allow customers to visualise the final product in 3D. So, you know exactly what you’re getting.

So, what are the most popular joinery products?

Below, Belinda unveils her favourite joinery options and how to integrate them into your interior design.

Make a statement with your island bench

As the focal point of the kitchen, it pays to invest in your island bench. Make a statement by incorporating timber or stone cladding to the rear or choose to add decorative storage such as open shelving or drawers in a timber-look material.

‘Adding cabinetry to the back of the island is a discrete way of storing those items you don’t often think about, such as cookbooks, Christmas dishes, and spare glassware,’ says Belinda.

‘For something different, it’s also becoming increasingly fashionable to add curves to your island bench.’

For a Hamptons or Coastal home, opt for white shaker drawers with ornate handles. Alternatively, a curved edge in a matt finish can bring an element of softness to a more modern kitchen.

Fit out your wardrobe for five-star convenience

Personalise your walk-in-robe with custom joinery options such as his and her sections – no more debates about overhanging or drawer space! ‘Open shelf options that allow you to put your prized heels on display are incredibly popular, as are built-in full-length mirrors,’ says Belinda.

Every master bedroom needs a walk-in-robe. Customise the space to match your interior design by threading the feature colours of your home through the woodwork.

Optimise your kitchen storage

There is an endless array of life-changing kitchen storage options for the modern family. You can play with every element, including customising the shelf thickness and layout within your cupboards.

‘Our hardware range allows customers to make the kitchen as functional as possible. Think hidden inner drawers, spice trays, oil drawers, bespoke cutlery trays, and integrated bins,’ adds Belinda.

A home that caters to large families or smaller kitchens that need to maximise storage space.

Impress your friends with a home bar

Add a touch of sophisticated fun and impress your family and friends with a stylish home bar. Select from a range of statement colours or splashbacks, benchtop thicknesses and finishes to suit your overall design palette.

For added practicality, add built-in wine racks, a provision for a bar fridge of your choice or a space for storing (and displaying) your delicate glassware.

A kitchen designed for an entertainer.

Coastal or Hamptons vibe

Consider a stone splashback, feature handles, profiled cabinetry or glass door inserts as well as shelves with downlights to highlight glassware on display.

A contemporary aesthetic

A mirrored / glass splashback, LED strip lighting under open shelves and handle less base cabinets can help create the perfect modern home bar.

Integrate lighting into your joinery

Add strip lighting to the bottom of your overhead kitchen cabinetry so you can see exactly what you’re cooking. Or add lighting to the edge of your bathroom make-up drawer to ensure you always pick the right foundation shade.

Modern kitchens, or wet areas that don’t have access to a wealth of natural light.

Amplify your bathroom vanity

There are few rooms more important than the master ensuite. Our premium joinery package offers you a wealth of choice when it comes to finishes, colours, and feature cladding in your cabinetry and vanity.

‘Adding towel racks, open shelving, or additional drawers to your vanity is a great way to bring a sense of character to your master ensuite and ensure the space is as functional as possible,’ says Belinda.

Stay true to the modern style with handle less vanity doors and drawers as well as LED strip lighting directly below the vanity. For a coastal scheme, opt for profiled cabinet doors and drawers, feature handles and open shelving.

To complete the look of any vanity regardless of design style, look no further than a floating vanity. This clever feature can make bathrooms look bigger especially when paired with seamless floor to ceiling tiling.

Mudroom

The humble mudroom may be small compared to other rooms in your home, but its practical impact is key to keeping the main areas of your home clean and organised.

Generally located in the laundry, near a back exit door or tucked away near your garage or front door entrance, a mudroom is a dedicated space to remove dirty or wet shoes, coats, umbrellas or school bags. It’s a great stop gap to store everyday items without taking up essential space throughout the main living areas of your home.

‘Easily add panache to your mudroom with a feature painted wall or cladding, a custom upholstered bench seat with cushions after key handover, coat hooks that suit the style throughout the rest of your home, and plenty of greenery,’ says Belinda.

Both modern and Hamptons homes. Think handle less base cabinets and overheads in a dark or light seamless design with contrasting colours and materials for a contemporary scheme. For Hamptons, lean towards decorative coat hooks, profiled VJ cladding to walls and block colours.

Office / Library

Make the room useable by ensuring everything has its own place or can be hidden away. Think tall and overhead cabinets for your large items and drawers for papers and other miscellaneous pieces.

‘You can also install open shelving to house plants, candles, and any certificates you’d like to tastefully display,’ adds Belinda.

‘If you and your partner both work from home, consider twin desks and storage. These are also great if you have a child who might study in the future.’
