Mid-century design, reimagined for the modern lifestyle.

Blending clean lines with thoughtful detail and textures, the Barcelona 32 is a contemporary take on the classic mid-century aesthetic. From structured forms to grounding tones, the interiors are crafted to evoke a sense of calm, warmth, and enduring style — ideal for today’s evolving lifestyles.

Behind the design of the Barcelona, you’ll find a focus on intentional choices — from layout to finishes — that reflect the beauty of simplicity and function. The design philosophy draws on mid-century principles to create spaces that feel timeless, yet perfectly in tune with modern living.

As you explore the home, each space reveals how materiality, tone and texture work together to deliver a refined, relaxed atmosphere — one that balances everyday ease with lasting impact.

Minimal, striking features

Minimal, yet strong features include concrete-look benchtops, distinctive walnut and deep forest green feature joinery, matte dark subway tiles and mid-century style vinyl flooring.  “This home has movement and energy, it’s not linear,” says Kat Moore Boutique Homes Project Designer.

“The kitchen really is the centre and the heart of the home, connected to the main living space with ancillary areas hidden behind.”

Hard finishes are softened by the warmth and comfort in furnishings, with detailed layering and styling helping to create and enhance the mood and theme.

A shag rug in subtle tones in front of the fire gives nostalgic mid-century cabin vibes, while reading corners and robust surfaces add tactility to the mood. Textures help add interest and non-dominant patterns are used sparingly in soft furnishings.

The walls are a soft greige tone, with heroes of darker accents in alcoves. Wallpapers add to the mid-century theme and was used in the master suite, in charcoal with a geometric nod to mid-century shapes. “We played with wall colours in this home but it’s not overly bold,” explains Kat.

This home is cosy yet gives space to breadth, with a visual connection to outdoor greenery in every room. The living and dining is a long space, but is visually segregated by the vertical break of the fireplace chimney. “The lowline joinery that flanks each side of the fireplace connects the spaces and creates areas for engagement as well as function,” says Kat.

Designing with purpose

“We’ve created a moody retreat which could live on a secluded bushland as well as a coastal landscape,” says Kris. “It’s a home to enjoy life in serenity and privacy away from the busy city life.”
