The bright and airy Catalina 29 with the Gallerie façade at Woodlea Estate in Aintree beautifully captures a contemporary and country-coastal feeling. Featuring natural timber flooring and muted hard finishes, the interior scheme is accentuated with splashes of vibrant colour to create a relaxed and ‘constantly on vacation’ vibe.
‘This is the perfect home for young couples and families – it’s lively and relaxed yet still very sophisticated,’ says Senior Interior Designer, Mitra Whittle.
‘The timber flooring, cabinetry and walls offer a softer touch; you can find glimpses of personality and interest in the furnishings and styling through the use of colour – greens and soft oranges.’
These feature colours can be seen in the beautiful botanical artworks hand-picked by Mitra and are carried throughout the home via co-ordinating cushions, dining chairs and a striking olive bedhead in the master bedroom.
‘I’ve also used a range of linens and other textured fabrics throughout the single storey home to capture that coastal vibe so that it works tonally with the flooring,’ adds Mitra.
For those wanting to create the Catalina’s carefree feel in their own home, Mitra recommends starting with the Gallerie façade.
‘The façade is absolutely beautiful and offers you a lot of diversity in terms of style – it works with so many different interiors so you can really bring your own flair to the interior design and not have it look out of place with the exterior,’ she says.
‘Remember to not go overboard with cane and wicker furniture when creating this look – you need to find a balance between modern Scandi and country-coastal.’
Surprisingly, Mitra’s favourite room of this house is actually the kid’s room.
‘We’ve used a beautiful minty-white stripe to tie the rooms in with the rest of the house while the cute artwork will make it a room your whole family will love,’ explains Mitra.
