Don’t feel like you have an eye for colour, materials or pattern? Overwhelmed by the array of interior design choices and trends that can make it difficult to know where to begin?
We are constantly exposed to an abundance of inspiration when it comes to styling, décor and interior design trends – so much so that it can start to feel quite overwhelming. But with the right support, choosing the materials and colours for your home can also be one of the most engaging and rewarding aspects of your build journey.
At Boutique, we’re fortunate to have an incredible and qualified team of dedicated Interior Designers to guide and help you create a colour palette that matches your ideal design vision.
Meet the design experts
Like all of Boutique’s Interior Designers, Nadija and Jess are not only industry qualified with degrees from RMIT University but they’re also active members in Victoria’s design community.
‘Our Design team is incredibly talented and passionate about the work we do,’ explains Nadija.
‘We each contribute our own unique skills and design interests, and we enjoy working collaboratively to create beautiful spaces for all our Boutique customers. The interior design process should be an exciting and fulfilling experience – never a chore.’
Jess agrees, adding that in a rapidly changing design space, staying abreast of the latest trends is key.
‘We attend design shows and product training regularly and keep in constant contact with our reputable suppliers about upcoming releases,’ she says.
What to expect from the interior design process
So just how exactly does your dedicated Interior Designer help create your vision?
It begins early in the pre-construction stage, with your professional Interior Designer introducing themselves via phone and walking you through the process to come. You’ll then receive a one-on-one guided tour of the Boutique Abode Inspiration Studio, where you can gain an understanding of the wide range of finishes, fixtures and products available ahead of your selection appointment.
‘It’s a great opportunity to take advantage of our design expertise. Building a home is a huge investment, so it’s really important that you love the final product and you’re proud to show off your interiors to friends and family,’ says Jess.
‘Often customers are overwhelmed by the choices available and the trending styles. We can help to steer you toward the colours and materials that will work well together and endure the test of time, ensuring there are no clashes of style or colour, and that the result is both aesthetically pleasing and durable.’
While some customers have a clear vision for their home, many simply don’t know where to start. Your dedicated Interior Designer can also offer mood boards and visual cues to help gauge the styles you like or dislike.
‘For customers who really struggle to decide, we usually suggest they stick to a neutral colour palette, and then use their furnishings to bring a pop of colour and personal style to the space,’ adds Jess.
Your professional Interior Designer will continue to be available by phone and email, assisting you to create a themed flat lay you love. They’ll then work with you to finalise your selections in a final face-to-face appointment.
Where to go for design inspiration
- Visit display homes: There’s nothing quite like seeing colours, fixtures and finishes in person. ‘Our display homes cater to a range of tastes and styles, so they’re a fantastic source of inspiration,’ says Nadija. ‘My advice is to visit as many as you possibly can, even if you first think it’s not quite your style – you might be surprised about what you love in person or there might still be elements you can use in your own home.’
- Browse social media: Photo-focused social media channels can be your best friend when building a new home. Scroll through Pinterest and Instagram to find the colours, interior styles and products you love – be it a textured throw or ornate bed head. A quick search of #OurBoutiqueHome will bring up countless images of real customer homes that will be sure to inspire.
- Take advantage of online forums and stores: Use online forums such as Houzz Australia and interior design stores to find products you love. These are particularly helpful when thinking about storage ideas and finishing touches. ‘Don’t forget to screenshot your favourites and show them to your Interior Designer – they can show you the Boutique products that will work best with your choices,’ adds Jess.
