Shane and Lorraine Gore spent the majority of their 40+ years of marriage enjoying the wildlife that frequented their beautiful five-acre property in Victoria’s Ballarat. But when Shane was suddenly diagnosed with cancer, they knew they had to downsize.
‘Shane bought the land when he was 18 years old and built the blue-stone homestead himself,’ shares Lorraine
‘We were lucky enough to find a block for our new home that was titled and ready to build on – a vacant lot in Delacombe, an outer suburb of Ballarat. It ticked all the boxes: a walking track along a natural waterway, wide streetscape and amenities close by,’ adds Lorraine.
‘We did a lot of research and spent many weekends looking at Victorian display homes, before finally deciding on a builder and a floorplan we were both happy with,’ explains Lorraine.
Two days before they were planning to sign with another builder, the pair went to visit their selected home design one last time. While Lorraine was talking to the Sales Consultant, Shane sneaked off to have a look at the Boutique home on display.
‘After much hesitation on my part and persuasion by Shane, I took a look too. I was so impressed, particularly with the kitchen and the size of the bedrooms and living areas. It was an easy decision to make – we were building with Boutique Homes,’ says Lorraine.
Shane and Lorraine signed up on the day. They knew the Riviera 26 with the Southampton façade was ‘The One’.
