Almost as impressive as Boutique customers Az and Jamie’s Nordic abode is their pampered four-year-old Cavoodle, Bella, and their stylish lifestyle and design Instagram account @hausofcruze.
Partners in both business and life, Jamie and Az know something about combining their talents to produce something eye-catching.
Owners of a creative design studio that evolved from an Instagram account dedicated to documenting their Boutique build, Haus of Cruze now boasts over 25k followers with a focus on creating stunning interior designs and digital marketing content for their clients.
On nights and weekends, they place the finishing touches on their own space and use social media to inspire others to create the home of their dreams.

‘We came across the Boutique brand via Instagram through a few couples that were currently in the thick of their own build,’ recalls Az.
‘It was the quality of the finishes and the overall design that won us over in the end. We were impressed with the quality inclusions but, most importantly, the floorplan.’
Choosing a floorplan to furnishings
The pair chose the practical and liveable Barcelona home design – a canvas they could use to paint their creative mark as a couple.
‘We wanted a floorplan that was modest yet had an element of grandeur and openness and was drenched in natural light,’ explains Az. ‘We ensured that the orientation of our lot would take full advantage of the course of the sun.’
Once the foundations were laid, Jamie and Az went about styling a ‘feel’ rather than a look through their interiors, opting for calm, relaxed and inspired sensations that are evoked by cream-meets-neutral colour tones.
‘By focusing on using materials that are raw, organic and full of texture and character, we add an element of depth and interest to our selections,’ says Az.
What to expect from the build journey
An emotional build journey cumulated into a milestone moment for the @hausofcruze pair – when the slab was finally complete. Every customer has their ‘oh my goodness moment’ when their build becomes real, and the foundation of their new home being laid was just that for Az and Jamie.
‘We attribute our happiness to our amazing site supervisor, who really looked after us throughout the entirety of the build process. We always felt we were in good hands,’ adds Az.
Az’s top tips for designing your dream home
- Find the right builder: Understand the builder’s values and ideals – are they aligned with yours? Join chat groups on social media by connecting with the Boutique community #ourboutiquehome and read reviews. You can learn so much from the experiences of others and there is a fantastic online community willing to provide support every step of the way.
- Back yourself during the build journey: Do your research! That way you’ll understand the process end-to-end when it comes down to crunch time. Join Facebook groups and online forums; we learned valuable lessons using these channels, such as engaging a building inspector throughout the build. This reassured us that we were getting a quality home to code.
- Hone in on your individual style: Start a Pinterest mood board or start collecting snippets from magazines. Then, take stock of all your saved images and ask yourself: is there harmony in all the rooms or does it look disjointed? If it flows, you can be confident you’ve landed with a particular style. And don’t deviate too far from your vision during your colour appointment.
